We have two dogs who love to tag along with us to hit the best dog-friendly restaurants in Boise. It’s wonderful to have so many nearby dog-loving restaurants to explore. Sniffing new places and meeting new dogs and people is highly enriching and fun for all dogs. We love Boise for its artsy vibe, vibrant downtown and, especially, for how pup-friendly it is.
There are already a lot of fur-friendly restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, and even ice cream parlors that allow dogs in Boise, but more are popping up all the time! It’s hard to keep track of all of them, and we haven’t even been to some of them! We have found some local favorites, though, and share their enthusiasm for a fun and fur-friendly environment.
Is your dog restaurant-friendly?
Before we get to the lists, let’s identify whether your dog is the kind of dog who does well inside or on the patio of a restaurant. Be sure your dog is fairly well-behaved before taking them to a to a dog-friendly restaurant in Boise, even if it’s out on the patio. Your dog should be:
- non-reactive and calm among people, dogs, and kids
- relaxed in new and unfamiliar environments
- well-behaved, leashed & not begging or jumping up
- a good listener when you tell them to sit or stay
- be quiet and not bark incessantly through the meal
- patient enough to relax until the meal is over

A popular restaurant in downtown Boise who prides itself on procuring locally-sourced ingredients. Lots of enticing items on the menu, and customers rave about their warm Butter Cake. All good dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio. - TI AMO
An Italian Cuisine restaurant in East Boise at Bowen’s Crossing. The food is ridiculously tasty…from pasta to NY strip and pizza! And, you can eat it all on their charming pet-friendly patio and people-watch. Water bowl included. - BACON
What dog or person doesn’t love bacon? Bacon is a very popular breakfast spot in Boise who puts the bacon front and center in their dishes. And, of course, there’s a patio available for all, along with water bowls for your furry friend. - EUREKA!
There’s a little big of everything on their menu, therefore, you’ll have plenty of options. And, a trendy patio with umbrellas for some shade in the Summer. Just a lazy lunch on a gorgeous day with your furry bestie. - BAR GERNIKA
A small Basque bar in Boise that serves the BEST croquettes! Grab your lunch, pup, croquettes, and plop yourself on the patio for a rich, savory, and wonderfully satisfying meal. - LEMON TREE CO.
Another top favorite for lunch! They have both vegan and non-vegan sandwiches and they are sooo good. You’ll never go anywhere else for a sandwich. They have a patio for pups, but it’s quite small and more fitting for small dogs. - THE LOCAL
Good food and a friendly patio for dogs with the added bonus of a small dog menu! I would highly recommend the “doggy dinner” for your furry best friend and the Prime Rib (for the people) on the weekend. - TUPELO HONEY
If you want some down-home Southern cooking (scratch-made), Tupelo Honey is a great option in Boise. The restaurant comes with a lovely patio for both people & dogs, however, it’s upstairs, so be sure your dog isn’t afraid of stairs (like mine). - SUSHI SHACK
I’m sad to say that although I’ve tried many sushi places in Boise, I missed this one. I’m happy to report they have a patio you can share with your canine companion. So, if you’re a sushi fan and looking for more in Boise, add this to your list. - SID’S GARAGE
Mostly a burger and shake place with a few “extras”. The patties are from Snake River Farms and they’ve also switched to beef tallow. Dogs are allowed on the patio, and a little birdie told me you can order a plain burger for your pup….yes! 🙂 - THE LIFT BAR & GRILL
We haven’t had the opportunity to visit The Lift yet, although, we’re looking forward to it. It’s a casual menu (burgers, etc.) and a large, perfectly cozy fur-friendly patio with the added bonus of a dog menu! Let me know what you think. - GOLDSTEIN’S BAGELS
I can’t imagine anyone not loving a good bagel with cream cheese. Goldstein’s goes a step further, offering both cold and hot bagel sandwiches! They also have a small sidewalk patio downtown with plenty of room for you & your pup. - ACERO’S BOARD & BOTTLES
Spacious patio, serving, well, boards and bottles (think shareables). They have a good-sized, dog-friendly patio in the Grove Plaza, which is great for people watching or the seasonal “Alive at Five”. Enjoy! - WYLD CHILD
This is the best place for a quick lunch or dinner. It’s a great place for burger and killer fries! And, guess who’s next door? The Still and Push & Pour (mentioned below) ALL share a huge canine-friendly patio with fire pits to keep you warm in the colder months. It’s a popular place for a reason. For vegetarians, they also have a falafel burger on the menu! - BACQUET’S FRENCH RESTAURANT
As far as dog-friendly restaurants in Boise go, this one tops the list for me (not technically in Boise). It’s in Eagle, but a must mention for both people & dogs! The food is next-level and the owners are the nicest you’ll ever meet. Bonus – they’ll treat your dogs like royalty. Last time we were there, my dog was given fresh pork cutlets & all the water & love she wanted. - LING AND LOUIE’S ASIAN BAR & GRILL
Love this place! There are so many wonderful dishes to choose from! Their fusion dishes are some of the most delicious. Not only that, but this restaurant sits right at the edge of the Boise River. This allows you to sit in their beautiful and spacious patio with your pups and take in a beautiful view. You’ll love the atmosphere, the food, and the view.

Good pub food and industrial brew-style decor. And, a few things on their menu might actually surprise you! Dogs are allowed on the patio, and they even have a pup brew for your doggy, if you can believe that! - BOISE BREWING CO.
Boise-style pub food with a pup-friendly patio and some exotic burgers….like a Bulgogi Smash burger! If you want to add a little spice to it, order the Bulgogi Bahn Mi sandwich. We had these two items just last week – fantastic! - SOCKEYE BREWING
- Sockeye features TWO large patios for people and their furry friends, so drink that craft beer and eat those tasty bites in style and stay as long as you like. Might I suggest the Arancini to start?
- BARBARIAN BREWING
Focused mainly on barrel-aged and sour beer brewing. Dogs are fully allowed at both their Boise location and their Garden City location, indoors and out doors on their patio (of course, all dog(s) must be well-behaved and leashed). - WHITE DOG BREWING
Well-known for their award-winning craft beer, White Dog Brewing has made its mark in Boise. As for your pups, there are only two tables for pup-friendly dining. Food-wise, you can order food through their partner, Smoke & Thyme. Yum! - CLOUD 9 BREWERY
I’ve only been to Cloud9 once, but it was memorable. The pub food is casual, but surprisingly tasty and dogs are welcome on their outdoor patio, which is where we ate when we were there. It was a beautiful, sunny day and perfect for lunch. - CLAIRVOYANT BREWING
Clairvoyant has a lot of space and a lot of beer! All dogs are welcome and water bowls and dog treats are available by request, and food trucks are present – see their “events” calendar online if you want to know what truck is coming. - WILD FRONTIER BEER ROJECT
A new brewery opened up where Mad Swede Brewing used to be, and people are already starting to rave about their craft beer. And, I’ve confirmed they allow all the good and leashed pups at their establishment, so bring them along! - LOST GROVE BREWING
A rustic warehouse-style brewery with a relaxed atmosphere and features a large outdoor patio that’s dog-friendly (leashed dogs welcome in the taproom and patio). Weekly live music, trivia, and dance parties. Serving craft beers, local wine, hard cider, and kombucha. Food options include handmade pizza, salads, appetizers, and late-night dumplings. - MOTHER EARTH BREW CO.
Another brewery who happily welcomes all good dogs inside and outside on their very big, well spaced out patio. Plus, they have weekly food trucks for food too, so you won’t go hungry anytime soon. - HIGHLANDS HOLLOW BREW HOUSE
I hadn’t heard of this brewery, but I came across it in my online search. It does look like some fun, and the menu looks pretty good, so consider giving it a try, and bring your dog with you and party on the patio together. - PAYETTE BREWERY
This is my favorite of the Boise dog-friendly breweries to take my dogs! It’s popular, the patio is big, and they have a small stage for live music. It’s great for socializing with people and dogs. There are usually a lot of dogs here and dog events, so make sure your pup is socialized. This is a brewery only, but they do have food trucks along the patio to order from.
BARS & WINERIES (dogs permitted)
- THE MODERN BAR
We’ve only been here once, but we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and drank. It’s a bar, but it has a small food menu that is downright delightful – try the beet salad! Dog area welcome on their lovely and intimate outdoor patio. - HOPS & BOTTLES
This is a beer and wine bar, and they happily allow your doggies both inside their establishment and out on their patio as long as you have yourself a leashed up, very good dog. - BLACK DOG BAR
A legit bar with clean tables, pool tables, and a few big-screen TVs on the walls. And, of course, beer. Most importantly to us, though, is they allow our dogs. And, they do….inside the bar! - SPLIT RAIL WINERY
Directly from their website: “Kids & dogs are welcome, just keep little ones mindful of other guests. Dogs must be leashed and off the furniture — they get VIP treatment otherwise.” Well, there you have it! - MERIWETHER CIDER COMPANY
If you love hard cider, this is the place for you! They have some unique ones you really don’t want to miss out on. And, for some fresh air, there’s a narrow, sidewalk patio that allows dogs, although there’s only space for smaller pups.
Dog-friendly Boise Coffee
Shops & Ice Creameries
Although ice creameries and coffee shops aren’t, technically, the dog-friendly restaurants in Boise that we’re focused on here, they do still serve drinks and/or food, so I decided to include them as little bonuses. I especially wanted to include the coffee shops because many of them serve breakfast, pastries, or what have you. It just makes sense to me. Do with it what you will!
ICE CREAMERIES (dogs allowed)
- THE STIL
The Stil is in the Warehouse Food Hall (and other Boise locations), with an ordering window from the patio, and is well-known for its boozy-infused ice creams. If you’re ok giving your dog a small bite of vanilla now and again, this is the place! - BLUE COW FROZEN YOGURT
A fro-yo dream of options, plus Boba and soft-serve. They have sugar-free, non-dairy, and no-fat options, so splurge with a little dessert and take a break on their patio with your dog and anyone else you’ve invited (note: only four tables available). - REED’S DAIRY
It doesn’t get better than Reed’s. The milk comes straight from the farm and it’s oh, so rich! There’s a table outside that you can sit with your kids and dogs or you can take it home and gobble it up in the privacy of your home with no judgment. 🙂
COFFEE SHOPS (dog lovers)

It’s popular for a reason, especially the location by the Boise Greenbelt! All 3 of their locations allow dogs inside and outside, so no worries there and no worries about getting great coffee either. 🙂 - DISTRICT COFFEE HOUSE
Personally, I love this coffee house. It’s modern, clean, roomy, cozy sitting areas, and a Cardamom latte that will knock your socks off. You can bring your dog in & get a pup cup. Dogs are allowed on the patio, but not inside for more than 5 minutes. - FLYING M COFFEE
This downtown coffeehouse is lively and casual, offering great coffee & pastries. And, they’re cookies are BIG. So grab one, and take it out to the patio with your doggies and enjoy some time yourself. Feel free to talk to your dogs too. They get it. - ALCHEMIST COFFE ROASTING CO.E
Alchemist has two locations in Boise and one in Garden City, so they’re easy to find! They always have new and interesting coffee concoctions on their specials board. Try out the Caramel Bourbon! Outdoor canine-friendly at all locations. - FORM & FUNCTION
Form & Function has some tables outdoors for dogs and their people. I haven’t been there….yet, but will be doing so any minute. I have heard good things about them, including my daughter. It’s hard not to trust your daughter, right? - DAWSON TAYLOR COFFEE ROASTERS
From what I’ve hard, Dawson Taylor does have a few (5?) tables set outdoors for people to sit at, including dogs. They produce organic, small batch, and single origin coffees. Definitely a place we should all look in to! - BLUE COLLAR COFFEE CO.
This coffee shop is pet-friendly and loves all the doggos. They happily invite well-behaved, leashed dogs inside, but not on the furniture (out of respect for those who have sensitivities to animal dander). Something to note: Blue Collar shares their building with the Retrograde hotel, which is also dog-friendly. - CAFFEINA ROASTING CO.
I adore Caffeina. Their menu is small, but mighty. You really can’t go wrong with anything here, coffee or food. It’s a deliciously cozy atmosphere for breakfast or brunch, and your pups can hang out on the patio with you. Caffeina is happy to provide them with water bowls, dog treats, and pup cups too!
EXTRA DOG-FRIENDLY PLACES in BOISE
- CLUBHOUND
This is a spot for dogs and people like no other! It has multiple areas for on leash and off-leash dogs, plus a bar for people and pups. There are dog brews, dog snacks, space to run, water bowl “feature”, cleaning stations, shaded areas, platforms to jump on, picnic tables, water bowls…everything your dog might want. Dogs are allowed just about anywhere on this property, except maybe the bathrooms? Inside, outside, and during the Summer, there’s even doggy pools and misters to keep them cool. You need a membership for the dogs, but it’s free for people. Food trucks are brought in week to week. - IDAHO PUPS AND ALES
This is somewhat similar to Clubhound, noted above, as it also requires a membership, unless your dog stays on the patio. If your dog is a member, they will have access to the Bubble Room (Bathtime), fresh water, “shy” dog park and off-leash dog park, shaded patio, and dog training is available.
