I’m, obviously, a dog lover myself and enjoy reading books where dogs are at least one of the main characters. I haven’t even come close, though, to reading all of them yet! If you’re a dog lover, we hope you consider some of our recommended books about dogs. And, if you know one, please share our list of books for dog lovers. They’re a great gift idea!
We tried to rule out those books that show up on every dog book list. For example, Marley & Me. However, we still included some other classic books about dogs and their adventures. There are some novels here you may be hesitant to read, or haven’t heard of before, but try and be adventurous!
And, if you haven’t ventured into using Audible yet, know it’s popular for a reason. It makes “reading” hands-free and easy to follow. Both of my daughters have it and use it, especially on road trips or while they’re working out. So, if you think you might be one of those people, consider trying out an audible account. There’s no risk, since you get 30 days for free, so try it out & see if it’s for you.
Regardless, you can order these sentimental books about dogs and their humans below, in any format you want that’s available. Enjoy, and don’t forget the tissue box! They’re not all sad…sometimes it’s just tears of joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even if it did make cry a little. A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope--a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life . . . as only a dog could tell it.
